Lecture Hall B2 Innovation Forum

11:00-11:30 h | Hall B2 Innovation Forum, B2, booth 441

Subjects: Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS)

Speaker: Brian Mathews (Bright Machines)

Type: Lecture

Speech: English

Machine learning is bringing improvements to nearly every industry, perhaps most apparent in the consumer technology space where smart devices like Alexa are managing our grocery lists and playing our music upon request. Ironically, the factories responsible for creating these cutting edge devices are themselves far less advanced. But software, computer vision and machine learning are bringing eyes and brains to the machines required to build modern products. This paradigm shift is poised to transform factories around the world and turn the machines of today into the intelligent machines of tomorrow.  In this talk, Bright Machines CTO Brian Mathews will paint a picture of the factory of the future - in which intelligent machines result in a democratization of manufacturing, and for consumers, greater product innovation than previously imaginable.

Brian Mathews

Brian is a technology futurist and the CTO of Bright Machines where he leads a team that is bringing intelligence to the factory, enabling manufacturers to effortlessly and autonomously build physical products.  He has spent three decades architecting cloud and desktop software for designers and engineers. Most recently, he led a 500-person platform group at Autodesk that was responsible for software development, cloud operations, product security and compliance. Previously, he led software teams developing 3D reality capture, computer graphics, augmented reality, data compression and other products. Brian holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in electrical engineering, both from Cornell University.
